Prepositional Form (Kauli ya Kutendea)

Form of verb corresponding to a prepositional sequence, with two forms:

Rules

Remove verb root and then find nearest vowel.

Verbs with a, i or u, end with -ia

-pika (to cook)

-pikia (to cook for/to)

Mama anatupikia pilau.

-piga (to beat)

-pigia (to beat for / to)

Meza ya kupigia pasi.

-fanya (to do)

-fanyia (to do for)

Baba aliwafanyia kazi.

Verbs with o or e, end with -ea

-weka (to keep)

-wekea (to keep for)

Kabati la kuwekea vitabu

-peleka

-pelekea (to send for)

Mwalimu amenipelekea chai

-soma

-somea (to read for)

Mwalimu anamsomea wanafunzi.

Verbs with double vowels end with -lia or -lea

-nunua (to buy)

-nunulia (to buy for)

Fedha za kununulia chakula

-pokea (to receive)

-pokelea

Nyumba ya kupokelea wageni.
